Blindsave review #1!

Blindsave is becoming a more recurring brand amongst goalies all over the world, and for a good reason. The designer of the gear is a goalie himself which is something you can notice when using their gear.

I have recently started using Blindsave gear and I will be reviewing them both here on the blog and through videos on www.youtube.com. I can't wait, so let's get started!
I am starting out with two items - the long sleeve compression shirt and the goalie mask.

First off, the long sleeve compression shirt.
Many shirts, both compression and every day shirts get wider and longer when you increase in size. If you are a tall and thin person, shirts will often fit on your body but be too short on the sleeves. If you go for a bigger shirt that has long enough sleeves, it will be too wide for your body.
This does not apply to the Blindsave compression shirt.

The point of compression wear is that it is tight so that it can protect your body from friction and transfer sweat from your body to your second layer of clothing. If the inner layer isn't tightly fitted it won't transfer sweat properly.

I have tried many different compression shirts when playing the net. One of the most common problems for me is that they aren't long enough which means they roll up as soon as I start moving, even if I tuck it in to the goalie pants. With this shirt I am wearing the size XL which makes it really long (as shown in picture) which means it doesn't roll up when moving about in the net. Like I said above, this shirt also stays tight even in sizes as big as XL. It only gets longer, which is great!
Even the sleeves are of a good length for me, who is 197 cm tall.

The material is very thin which means you won't get too hot when playing, even if you wear a long sleeve protection vest and a goalie jersey as the outer layers. It also lets you cool off very quickly if wearing the compression shirt on it's own thanks to the thin material.

So what is the final verdict for this product?
I absolutely love this shirt and I would recommend it to everyone!  Don't let the fact that I am sponsored by Blindsave affect your view on this review, this gear really is that good. Try and see for yourselves!

The next product is the Blindsave goalie mask.

First of all of this helmet looks fantastic and it is cleverly designed. When you wear this helmet you feel safe, you feel big and you look professional. Anyone who has ever taken a shot to the throat will also appreciate the long lip which protects your neck.

The cage design is very open in the front and it is wide on the sides. This gives you great vision and it doesn't make you feel trapped inside the helmet. Another thing I noticed quickly is how sturdy the cage is and how it is properly bolted to the mask. It gives a feeling of high build quality. The open design also allows actual air flow through which feels good.

The second thing that I need to mention about this mask is the material on the inside. At first, the padding felt a little hard when I put it on, but after only about a minute it felt great. I sweat a lot and to my surprise, when I took the mask off it was completely dry on the inside. The material doesn't absorb sweat but it becomes soft enough for you to be completely comfortable in the mask. It is well fitted to your head which means it won't move about but instead stay tight on your head the entire time and the padding's are shock absorbent.

The padding is made with a technique not used in any other helmet. It is made of firm rubber, which means that shots to the head doesen't reverberate inside the helmet and your head doesn't shake when the ball hits you. It simply bounces off the cage without affecting the goalkeeper, allowing him/her to stay focused on the game.

In total?
A brilliant piece of headgear. Key points for me:

  • Shock absorbent. You hardly notice shocks from shots to the cage and you feel all-round well protected in it.. It also absorbs the sound from taking shots to the head which is a great comfort.
  • Padding doesn't absorb sweat which keeps the inside dry even if you sweat a lot.
  • The sturdy and open-eyed cage design which provides great vision.

The padding can feel hard at first, but after only a couple of seconds of having the helmet on, it feels great and well fitted.

The only thing I haven't tried is being ran over or tackled to the head, but if that would happen I am sure that this helmet would protect your head very well! I really recommend anyone to trying these items, they really are cleverly made.

That's all for this review! Please feel free to ask me if you have any questions or opinions on my review of about the gear and I will do my best to answer!
