Everything looks amazing

You know that feeling after you've had a really tough workout or practice and you get home feeling completely shattered, however pleased with how well practice went and everything in the cupboard or freezer looks absolutely amazing? You find fruit, cereal, leftovers, cookies, sandwiches and you want all of it, preferably at once.
I love that feeling and I just had that after tonights practice and even though I got home with 7 new bruises from shots and a slightly torn groin muscle I was really happy! The practice went well, it was really fun and I had a lot of energy to move around in the net with. I was at practice with IBK Luleå Men's 17 team (division 3) and since our ordinary goalie has got a nerve pinch in his back I brought a goalkeeper from our boy's 14 team who did really well! The shots were a little harder than what he was used to but he really brought his game and stepped up to the challenge. As usual I recorded most of the practice with my Galaxy Tab S and I have been analyzing and editing all night since I got home. I found a new angle to record from, which I did by hanging the tab in the net of the handball goal... I admit it looked a little sketchy at first but it stayed up there even though some of the players hit the net! One shot did however mess up the angle a little on one of the clips but most of it still looked good.

For those of you who haven't tried recording yourself; I really recommend you try it! If you do, recording from behind and 3-4 meters above the net is a great angle to use! I will post a video where I use this angle!

Time for some late night advice (Swedish time that is.)

Goals are really important. Firstly, you need to have personal goals when playing sports. Goals for your career, this season, next game and even for next practice. Your success in the future starts with your next practice and every time you step on that court you should be striving to get one step closer to your long term goal. This you can do in many different ways, every small step is just as important as the next one. When you get on the court for a practice, decide for yourself at least one thing that you want to achieve during that practice. It could be acing aceing a throw, making a flying save, covering the first post well, improving your vocal game or whatever you feel that you need to improve. If you have smaller goals like those (for example) it won't matter if the entire practice didn't go well, you will have achieved the goal that you set for yourself!

Another type of goals that are important are the ones that the players score on you. They are even comparable to your saves from an analytic perspective since you can look back at the footage in slow motion (if using for example the Coach's eye app) and realizing what you could have done to prevent that goal. If you can figure out what you could have done differently, try to apply that the next time you are faced with a similar situation.

Lastly, if you've made one or several good saves, don't just be pleased with the save, use whatever footage you have of the save and do the same thing as with the scored goals - look back at the footage in slow-mo and figure out exactly what you did that made you make that save.

Always analyze yourself, your gameplay, your positioning, your fails and your accomplishments and always strive to improve and reach your goals! My body won't let me perform in the net the way I want to and there are many other injured goalies out there. If you are still intact, make sure you stay that way and keep on improving.

Save!
